Taneen Brinson, Therapist Intern

When anxiety, difficult relationships, divorce, or major life changes begin to feel overwhelming, counseling can offer space to pause, feel heard, and reconnect with what matters to you. I believe your experiences are an important part of your story, but they do not define all of who you are. Together, we can explore what you have been carrying, recognize the strengths that have helped you through, and consider what you want your next chapter to look like.

I am a counselor-in-training pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Governors State University. I welcome adults from diverse backgrounds and am especially interested in supporting women navigating anxiety, relationship concerns, divorce, stress, self-esteem, and life transitions. My more than 25 years in education, nonprofit, and behavioral health settings have shaped my commitment to supporting individuals and communities through change. I also hold an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership, an MBA, and an M.Ed.

My counseling style is warm, respectful, and collaborative. I believe you are the expert on your life, and I see my role as walking alongside you as you explore your concerns and identify goals that feel meaningful. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly, move at your own pace, and feel both supported and encouraged to grow.

My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. I draw from narrative therapy to explore how experiences shape the stories we tell about ourselves, and use CBT-informed strategies when they fit your needs and goals. I also recognize that faith and spirituality can be meaningful sources of connection and strength, and welcome those conversations when they are important to you.

My hope is to support you as you reconnect with your voice, better understand your patterns, and move toward choices and relationships that reflect your values.
