Paulette Foster, MA

“In my endless thirst for knowledge, the greatest opportunity is to embark beyond my comfort zone. Hence, I grace myself to evolve into the learning of self which I have not known.” — Foster, 2021

In pursuit of my calling, I once asked: How can I help others given the darkness of my childhood and the anguish of adult life? The answer became clear: healing through compassion, truth, and presence. We often say, “Hurting people hurt people”—but through holistic care, I help others move from inner torment to peace and purpose.

I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals and families affected by generational trauma. I have a heart for children born into erosive family systems, couples navigating challenges, and young adults discovering identity and direction. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from attachment theory, family systems, emotionally focused therapy, the Gottman Method, trauma-informed care, and choice theory.

I work to create a space of unconditional positive regard where clients feel safe to explore their stories, confront stuckness, and grow. With premarital couples, I focus on helping them identify “personal intruders”—unseen emotional blocks rooted in past experiences. With youth and adults alike, I use techniques like self-differentiation, enactments, cognitive restructuring, and narrative work to help them reclaim their voice and dreams.

My work is informed not just by training, but lived experience. As a survivor of abuse, domestic violence, and early trauma, I bring empathy, insight, and deep respect to my work. I understand what it means to feel emotionally entrapped—and how transformative it can be to feel seen and empowered.

My spiritual life was transformed through the redemptive power of Christ and the Pentecostal experience. As both a Therapist and Evangelist for over 45 years, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside clergy, Christian families, and faith-based communities. Forgiveness and spiritual freedom are central themes in my work.

Outside of therapy, I’m a wife, a loving aunt and surrogate mother, and a spiritual mother to many. I find rest through prayer, Scripture, poetry, classical music, and swimming—especially in the ocean, where I feel God’s peace most deeply.
