Briana Dotson, Therapist Intern
“If you find yourself carrying the weight of painful experiences, difficult relationships, or life transitions, therapy can become a space to pause, process, and reconnect with yourself. I believe therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, explore your experiences with honesty and compassion, and gently return to parts of yourself that may have been silenced along the way. I also believe individuals are not defined by a single moment in time, but by the fullness of their journey—and that healing often begins when we recognize we are stronger than the narratives that are often handed to us.
I enjoy working with teens and adults from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. While I welcome many different concerns, I feel especially drawn toward trauma and relational work, including family-of-origin wounds, generational trauma, emotional injury, identity struggles, life transitions, difficult relationship dynamics and experiences involving hopelessness, self-harm, or suicidal ideation.
As a therapist, I value authenticity, curiosity, and compassion. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be vulnerable, while also feeling supported and challenged toward growth. I understand that trauma and hardship can deeply shape a person’s inner world, often causing individuals to lose sight of their own voice, strength, and identity.
I am passionate about helping individuals recognize that they are not confined to the narratives created through painful experiences, and that healing can create room for a new path forward.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, relational, and collaborative. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, somatic-based approaches, narrative therapy, attachment-focused work, and emotion-focused interventions while incorporating skills from CBT and DBT when helpful. I believe healing involves both insight and action—understanding where our patterns come from while also learning healthier ways to move through life and relationships. Faith and spirituality are also meaningful aspects of my therapeutic approach, and I recognize the important role they can play in healing and personal growth.
My hope is to walk alongside clients as they uncover deeper understanding, reclaim their present, and create a future that feels more aligned with who they truly are.
